About the Workshop
Stories help us connect with each other. We don’t often sit around having dinner with our friends and discuss our philosophy of life. What we do is tell stories about our life. These stories help us understand each other on a deeper level.
The culture that created Yoga is steeped in history and folklore. Traditions, viewpoints, and philosophies have led to the creation and sequencing of many of the postures we routinely move through. Using those stories allows us to connect with the posture - and ultimately ourselves - on a deeper level.
The Stories of Yoga is a 2 hour workshop interweaving a bit of history, a little perspective, a few stories and a lot of fun into a physical yoga practice. The practice itself is suitable for all levels of yogis from beginner to advanced - student to teacher.

The stories brought about deeper knowledge of the pose origin, or deeper understanding, which simultaneously drew me deeper into the physical practice. Cool stuff.

Easy and casual. Interesting and enjoyable!

The workshop was really well rounded, with discussion, history, philosophy and some awesome asana practice too. It was over too soon.

I loved the delivery! It made the workshop so fun.
Kevin J. Yoga Student
Overall hearing the stories + how they apply to our lives today is fascinating. They’re not just stories + fables, but actually applicable and helpful to our lives.
Angela S. Yoga Student
The most unique and interesting yoga class I’ve ever experienced! The history is fascinating and incorporating the stories into the poses was such a great experience.
Mary Jo L. Yoga Teacher Trainee
We became the stories! So engaging.
Stu is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher bringing his years of scripture and self-study (Svadhyaya) to the mat. He leads classes and workshops that use the physical practice of yoga as a foundation to open the discussions we don’t seem to be having with each other. Both classes and workshops dip into the bigger picture of yoga to help students and fellow teachers navigate their way through day to day life.
In a past life (early 2000’s), Stu developed a “successful” IT career working in everything from small companies to large corporations. In 2012, he traded that in for a path of study, following his passions, taking leaps of faith, and finding something more meaningful… to him. Stu has found the best way to give back the lessons he’s learned is through the eyes - or mat - of yoga.
